about

Wytold's Positive Eyes EP is a collection of four pieces written and recorded as short film scores for interviews of DC residents living with HIV/AIDS. The films are part of a global project titled "Through Positive Eyes", in which South-African photographer and activist Gideon Mendel interviews residents of major cities around the world living with HIV/AIDS, encompassing Bangkok, Mumbai, London, Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg, Mexico City, and Los Angeles in addition to DC. Gideon and the UCLA Global Art and Health Center commissioned Wytold to score the 12 DC-based films as part of the larger global project. Each musical piece is recorded with a live, improvised feel written in response to the experiences sharedin the corresponding video.

The fifth track, "The Get Down", was not part of Through Positive Eyes, but Wytold wrote it around the same time and the piece carries on a similar live-improvisionational feel.
